What I'm working on

Last updated: May 2026

Four months into a full-time focus on the coaching practice. In practical terms, this means a lot of discovery calls, a lot of writing, and the occasional moment of wondering whether I've made a structural error — which is, I suppose, an occupational hazard of someone who coaches people through structural errors.

I'm teaching one module at RIT Dubai this term — graduate students in project management. It's the closest thing I have to a daily reminder that teaching is both harder and more rewarding than managing. The students ask better questions than most clients. I don't say this to the clients.

Reading: The Coaching Habit(Bungay Stanier), which I have thoughts about; most of a collection of essays by Rem Koolhaas that I keep putting down and picking back up; and a paper on epistemological constraints in complex project environments that I found by accident and haven't been able to stop thinking about.

Working on: a framework for the discovery session. The first version was too structured. The second version wasn't structured enough. The third is probably the right question rather than the right answer, which is a reasonable place to be.

This page is a public update on what I'm working on this season. It's the most informal page on the site by design — a small window into how the practice is developing. I update it when the season changes.
